About me

Elsbeth Horbaty

My coaching is shaped by my experience from my professional and personal life in Switzerland, Latin America and Asia. It allows me to understand complex issues quickly and to offer practical and understandable solutions. I support my clients with seminars, online courses, and personal coaching. For some years now, I have been supplementing my support with the bodywork somatic experiencing®.

Highlights of my work experience

• Since August 2017: Independent consultant, coach and trauma therapist
• 2015-2017: Advisor for HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation in Pakistan
• 2013-2015: Management of Senior Expert Corps, Swisscontact, Zürich, coordinating retired experts in supporting small enterprises in developing countries
• 2007 – 2012: Caritas Switzerland, Head of Latin American Department and Program Manager Cuba
• 1996-2004: Development Cooperation in Central America, coordinating aid workers from Austria and Switzerland
• 1985-1995: Journalism, among others for Radio BBC London in Nicaragua, Mexiko, Argentina and Ireland
• 1979: Participation in the revolution of young people and priests and in the reconstruction of Nicaragua.
• 1976-79 working in various trading companies in Switzerland and Nicaragua

I grew up up in Switzerland. I am a mother and grandmother and live today in Winterthur, Switzerland.

Studies

• The reconstruction after the war in Central America and the support to people in the intercultural field inspired me to study psychology at the Open University, UK
• I complemented my practical experience in the field of international development with studies: NADEL at the ETH, Zürich, coaching and systemic organisation development at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz, Basel and various further training in field of psychology
• 2013-2016: Three year training and diploma as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner ®
• 2016-19 different workshops and trainings in the area of trauma recovery
